HARCOURT CHAMBERS ART COLLECTION
“These paintings and prints have been collected by me over many years. Necessarily, they reflect my own tastes and interests. They are an eclectic mixture of the colourful, reflective, quirky, sometimes challenging and – above all – highly creative. I hope you enjoy them too!”

In 2023, Harcourt Chambers took the decision to convert its second floor in to a suite of private court rooms, studies and meeting rooms. This was done in order to meet the changing demands of their professional and lay clients, against a background of post-pandemic working and a contracting court system.

The refurbishment was designed by Katy Ayres of Ayres Interiors, and the art works have been supplied by Roger Bamber of Art Works, in collaboration with her.

The collection mainly comprises British art of the past hundred and thirty years – a mixture of oil paintings, acrylics, watercolours and prints.

The core of the collection centres on those Post-War artists generally referred to as Mid-Century artists or Modernists. Their vision was highly influential during the rebuilding of the UK after the Second World War and in the decades that followed - a period when the small fishing village of St Ives was mentioned in the same breath artistically as Paris and New York.
